Capacity building of School Hygiene Educators on Hygiene & Female Hygiene promotion in Schools (2021)

Female Hygiene promotion – in association with Saint Gobain India

Female Hygiene model schools were promoted by INDIA NGO during 2017-18 with the support of Saint Gobain India Private Limited.

The goal was to reduce dropout rates of Girls from attending schools due to issues/Taboos related to Menstruation. Menstrual Hygiene was oriented to the Girls and Female Hygiene Clubs were formed in the schools. They were encouraged to meet regularly to discuss the issues. Sanitary Napkin packets were distributed to them.

As an outcome of the above activity, the following 4 Schools of Sriperumbudur Block, Kanchipuram District were promoted as models schools of Female Hygiene.

1. Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sriperumpudhur
2. Government Higher Secondary School, Maduramangalam
3. Government Higher Secondary School, Molachur
4. Government Higher Secondary School, Mathur

During 2018-19, the activities for sustaining the Female hygiene practices were repeated to the children of the above 4 model schools and the activities of the Club were also strengthened.
